Restaurant Review Sites

Can I just drop a quick rant...

If you come into my spot, and for some reason you don't like something... don't send me fucking emails about how "lucky" I am you didn't "post this" on Yelp or Trip Advisor and you came to me first. Just go post it on the damn site. I don't live and die by my online reviews on a site where any old blow hard with a computer and an Internet connection can just write up a "review" about whatever is the most important factor to them in a dine out experience. Oh, and, I don't fucking care if you cook at home. Everybody wants to tell you how to run a restaurant, why don't some of these people take the plunge. See what it's like to be referred to as "wait person" or "cook". This country still has a lot to figure out when it comes to mutual respect for the people who spend their lives feeding other people. Fuck the public. I've said it before, I will say it again, this business would be great if it weren't for the people.

Wow, that felt good. 8 a.m... Time to go to the farmers market...

Bravo. I wish you would cut and paste the body of the email. Did you reply? If not, more power to you, but I would have probably spent a few paragraphs phrasing "Go fuck yourself" as politely as possible.

the only online reviews for my place i've ever seen tear it apart, yet we're packed every night. only assholes complain to the internet when they have a bad experience. and only assholes think they know more about your cooking than you do.

also i'd like to add that US complaining to the internet is different, and completely acceptable

I stopped checking Yelp and Trip Advisor some time ago. The reviews are usually stacked and fixed from the beginning.

I understand that we can't make everybody completely stoked. We put our all into creating the mission statement of a menu and focus on preparing the best food we can. We are far more critical of our food than they ever will be.

I would say 90% of my dining experiences have left me critical of the establishment. I've never in my life written a letter or placed a phone call or said how I can do it better. If I really was disappointed I do what our economy says to do, "Stop spending your money there."

To Joe Blow Hard the "home culinarian," and Sandy Vag the "never have been in the industry internet restaurant critic," SHUT THE FUCK UP! There I said it. What the fuck is a Yelp anyway. Sounds like somebody who is choking asking for some help.
