Friday night

Guess who was to sick to work last night? And has already said he won't be in Today either. He then has Sunday and Monday off. I call that a fucking vacation or a good way to get fired. I should have known something was up when I was asked to work Friday day shift which then turned into a 15 hour double.

I was once told by a famous bartender named after mexican food that "if you can walk, you can work"

I've never understood the whole "calling out in advance" phenomenon that this guy has now employed twice. How do you know how you're going to feel to-morrow? Any Chef worth his $29.50/ounce smoked Hawaiian sea salt would find a way to get to work for at least a little while before having two days off. In my neighborhood, conventional wisdom dictates that these two days are actually now two days on.

I remember a night after "Burrito" ate a couple green dream bars, that he was certainly walking but maaaybe shouldn't have been working. God bless him.

Is this your superior doing this to you? I agree with Mad Redox on this one. If you need to take 2 days off because you are sick, then you need to pick up at least one day on your normal weekend. Being sick is a major inconvenience for any chef, but the job still has to get done. If a chef can predict a sickness and take an unplanned four day weekend, then clearly he is not in demand anymore.

I have to give a months notice to get a four day weekend, and even then it isn't set in stone because of last minute parties and such. So when I read this my first thought was, "what a faggot."
